3 choral concerts in BATH 25, 27 & 28 October
Concluding the ADDUP project, following workshop weeks in Arezzo, Warsaw and Rouen, the choirs and student conductors taking part in Bath this week, present three concerts offering a wide range of choral music from Renaissance to contemporary, including gospel and folk music, in addition to well known classics, such as Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine, and music by Byrd, Palestrina, Purcell, Charpentier, Rossini, Stanford, Poulenc, Gorecki, John Rutter, Eric Whitacre and more - a feast of beautiful music featuring the excellent Maîtrise (children's choir) and Jeune Chorale (Youth choir) of Rouen Conservatoire. Admission to the concerts is free. Most choirs rely on friends and family for their audience - in this case, the friends and families are hundreds of miles away! Please support these events if you can.

We are pleased to be the UK partner in this European project and we are responsible for its implementation in the UK

through our our many contacts and links with choirs and singers across the UK.
This project takes place over a period of 24 months (October 2016-October 2018) and consists of five days of activities related to choral conducting, artistic direction & choir management (stage, repertoires, techniques, rehearsals, concerts). These activities will be hosted in turn by the four partner organisations in each of the participating countries: Fulltura in Poland (lead partner), Insieme Vocale Vox Cordis in Italy, Les Affinitiés Electives in France and 20,000 Voices in the United Kingdom. More information on the principles of ADDUP can be found on the journal site here.
Eight trainee conductors (two per country) are invited to take part in all four training sessions, working with the four professional directors, and a variety of choirs in each country. Part of the objective is to learn about the culture, indigenous repertoire and vocal and choral practice in each country
The timetable for these is:

So far the programme has provided a hugely beneficial international cultural exchange, enabling many young conductors to work with highly experienced professionals, in some fantastic venues, and with singers from a great variety of choirs, including children's choirs, youth chorales, male voice choirs, upper voice choirs, community choirs, and professional singers. The opportunity to experience different rehearsal methods, languages and repertoire, and the concert experience in the four countries has provided a uniquely rewarding experience for all involved.
20,000 Voices is delighted to be hosting this final stage, and aims to offer a similarly rewarding experience for all participants, and additional or further support for the trainee conductors through the lifetime of the project and beyond through its various choirs, workshops and other activities.
